The Boulder Jazz Dance Collective has a rich history, dating back to its founding in 1980 as the Boulder Jazz Dance Company by Lara Branen and Michael Geiger. The company was formed to be the professional resident company of the Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop, delighting audiences each summer in Boulder, Colorado.
In 1995, the company underwent a transformation, becoming a non-profit organization and adopting the name Interweave Dance Theatre, which better represented the diverse range of performances they presented. This change allowed them to showcase a wider spectrum of artistic expressions and connect with a broader audience.
In 2022, the Boulder Jazz Dance Collective took a bold step towards community collaboration, transforming their annual dance festival into a remarkable partnership with various Colorado-based dance companies. By joining forces with these organizations, they strengthened bonds within the local dance community and expanded their influence beyond the workshop's confines.
This newfound commitment to collaboration not only showcases the collective's dedication to artistic excellence but also highlights their sincere engagement with the community. As they continue to make their mark in the world of jazz dance, the Boulder Jazz Dance Collective's legacy shines brightly as a beacon of creativity and inclusivity. In 2022, the Boulder Jazz Dance Collective took a bold step towards community collaboration, transforming their annual dance festival into a remarkable partnership with various Colorado-based dance companies.
